Awesome places you should know about Part. 3

Roosevelt Island

A little island of between Manhattan and Queens and right underneath the Queensboro bridge lies Roosevelt Island. Roosevelt Island is a 2 mile long island and it is home to many rental buildings and a state park. The park is known as Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park. The island is popular during the spring because of the blossoming trees that line up next to the river.

Getting to Roosevelt island is another cool experience. There is the F train that runs through the island and there is also a tram line that runs right next to the Queensboro Bridge. The tram costs the same as a Subway ride, but it is the preferred way to get to Roosevelt Island, or at least i think so. Id say the best time to go over is when the sun is setting because the view is pretty cool. And once you are over on the Island, seeing the Manhattan skyline is always a treat.

Roosevelt Island doesn't offer too much, but it is a good place to go take a walk or bring a date. The park has a great view and the walkways that surround the island have Manhattan in it's background.  Its worth it just for the tram ride, but it also makes for a nice picnic. Make sure you bring a camera because you're going to want to take pictures.

Bronx Zoo

Bronx Zoo

The Bronx zoo is a big attraction to visitors of New York city. The zoo is filled with over 6000 different kinds of animals. It is the largest metropolitan zoo in North America and it is located in Bronx park. The zoo is opened all year except fore major holidays. The hours of operation are seasonal, so i will link the website to tell you what the hours are here.

Currently the zoo is opened on weekdays from 10:00 am- 5:00 pm and on weekends from 10:00 am - 5:30 pm.

General admission is $19.95 per person, however every Wednesday is a donation day. So, you can pay what you like and its available for the whole day. Also, if you're a student in the city you can get a complimentary ticket with your student I.D. This has recently come into effect, so you can visit the zoo whenever you want. The zoo is highly recommended but be aware that you will be doing a lot of walking.

Getting to the zoo is simple too. The 2 train and the 5 train run right up to Bronx park and the zoo is only a short walk from the Bronx park East station. Dress for the occasion and wear comfortable shoes because the zoo is very big and New York has a tendency to get hot and humid very fast. I also suggest bringing your own food to the zoo because the prices there are a little ridiculous.
