Roosevelt Island
A little island of between Manhattan and Queens and right underneath the Queensboro bridge lies Roosevelt Island. Roosevelt Island is a 2 mile long island and it is home to many rental buildings and a state park. The park is known as Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park. The island is popular during the spring because of the blossoming trees that line up next to the river.
Getting to Roosevelt island is another cool experience. There is the F train that runs through the island and there is also a tram line that runs right next to the Queensboro Bridge. The tram costs the same as a Subway ride, but it is the preferred way to get to Roosevelt Island, or at least i think so. Id say the best time to go over is when the sun is setting because the view is pretty cool. And once you are over on the Island, seeing the Manhattan skyline is always a treat.
Roosevelt Island doesn't offer too much, but it is a good place to go take a walk or bring a date. The park has a great view and the walkways that surround the island have Manhattan in it's background. Its worth it just for the tram ride, but it also makes for a nice picnic. Make sure you bring a camera because you're going to want to take pictures.
